Subrahmanya Temple was unearthed by Archaeologists at a place called Saluvankuppam near Mahabalipuram.This place is located very close to the UNESCO monument Tiger Cave.There is a gate towards the northern side(or take left once you enter Tiger Cave campus) of the Tiger cave campus which will lead to this temple.The temple is dedicated to Lord Muruga and was unearthed through a hint found in a rock inscription that emerged after tsunami 2004 here.This temple was believed to be constructed using granite by Pallavas around 8th century AD initially.On further research,it is found that the granite temple was built over a brick foundation which is dated back to Sangam era.Archaeologists believe that this brick temple may got destroyed by tsunami or other natural calamities during that time.During 8th century,it is believed that Pallava kings rebuilt it using granite over the left out brick foundation.The temple was again destroyed by tsunami in later times and is unearthed on 2005.
