Ponniyin Selvan is one of most famous historical novel written by Kalki Krishnamurthy. This novel is composed in 5 volumes. It is one most bought novels in Tamil even today. There was a huge expectation among Tamil people to watch this historic novel in big screen or in an animated form.

It is worth to note that even the ace Tamil director Maniratnam tried to make this novel as a movie but finally have to drop it due to huge budget constraints.
